How much RECREATIONAL boating time do you get?

Some of us here work on, in or around boats, some are live-aboards, some weekenders, and some don't even own a boat. But, on average, how much time do you spend actually doing what you love in a boat? Going fast, fishing, cruising with family, whatever floats your boat counts, but anything work related, or just not fun, doesn't. Me- I'm in and out of boats all day, every day, from April until December, but I'm really lucky if I get 6 hours a week for the fun stuff.

I can empathize with the 6 hours a week for fun on the boat. In fact when I lived in Boston, I used to get up before sunrise, take my suit & tie to the boat, start the coffee brewing and head east toward open water. Then cut my engines, pour my coffee and watch the sunrise from the cockpit of my boat. Head back, change clothes and head off to work.

I just turned 65 but I retired 17 years ago and have been living on my boat ever since. I cruise (on average) 5 days a week, 45-46 weeks a year. All of my cruising days (for sure) are spent doing what I love best. For me, it is the cruising - I was just born with a incurable wanderlust for travel and adventure, and have found no better way to do it then by boat. After a day or two in one spot, I am itching to move on.
