Factoring Help GRADE 10 MATH?
can this be factored? x^2 +24? (^=power of )
i said it could not... is that right?
because i tried (x+12)(x+12) and when you expand it you will get
x^2 12x -12x +12 -12
which equals to only
x^2

In tenth grade, it cannot be factored.
In twelfth grade, it can be factored using imaginary numbers.
You are probably aware that any number can be factored into prime numbers. Hence, 12 can be factored into
2 x 2 x 3
There is a similar theorem for polynomials stating that they can be factored into linear components. Be patient, you will eventually learn how.

(x+6)(x+4)=x2+10x+24 no
(x+6)(x-4) no
(x-6)(x+4) no
(x-6)(x-4)=x2-10x+24 no
(x+2)(x+12)=x2+14x+24 no
same w/negatives and positives as with 6 & 4 no
(x+3)(x+8)=x2+11x+24 no
same w/negatives and positives as with 6 & 4 no
I'm going to go with, no. Also, you using 12 and 12, what's 12x12? It's not 24.
