No, no country on earth should let their citizens carry weapons like the Americans.

What do they get for that? More murders per capita than any other country in the western world.

There is an absolute and direct connection between handguns and murders.

Sure there are lots of countries with long guns, they in no way contribute to the murder rate, comparable to handguns.

Long guns are free to own by any one who cares to buy one, and few do, in Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland and Poland.

What are their murder rates? from 1/12 (Canada) to 1/8 - the rest.

Handguns are designed to kill people, and they do that very well in USA. 100,000 Americans were shot last year and 22,000 died from their wounds.

    Pretty effective.

The argument that owning a gun cuts down on crime is totally false. Empirical evidence shows that any one with a gun has a greater chance to be shot than one without, regardless of the type of crime involved.

Why are human beings consistently evaluating the U.S. to the U.ok.? these are 2 diverse societies, what would artwork nicely interior the U.ok. will no longer artwork interior the U.S. The U.ok. is a much smaller, greater settled usa than the U.S., there isn't any wasteland left interior the U.ok., there isn't any part i'm going to imagine of the position the closest police officer is varied minutes away, there are not any armed smugglers crossing its borders on an primary foundation. you will no longer inform the electorate of Alaska to provide up their weapons even as bears and wolves are interior the lower back backyard, you will no longer inform the persons residing in distant areas the position the closest regulation enforcement is over an hour away to provide up their weapons, you will no longer persuade the farmers and ranchers residing at the Mexican border that they don't have something to concern from the cartels crossing their land on a each day basis, you will no longer persuade human beings residing in crime ridden neighborhoods that 911 is an option to shop their lives. It takes the police at maximum suitable 3 to five minutes to reply to a 911 emergency, it takes a offender already at your residence 2 minutes to kill your family and cross away. you won't be able to examine the U.S. to the U.ok., Australia, Japan, Canada, Switzerland or anywhere else. it is our problem, it rather is unique to the U.S. and will simply be solved with a answer it is unique to the U.S. What would or does no longer be working in all these diverse worldwide places will no longer artwork right here.

Your stated premise is FALSE. That said, the US should repeal most, if not all of its existing gun laws. The #1 cause of violence involving guns is the LACK of guns in the hands of law abiding citizens to stop the criminals.

Yes, I realize this is not the answer you want, and will be completely useless in your debate.

It won't. I don't have to give any reason it never will.

    Most Canadians wouldn't want it.

All laws stop criminals. NO one here commit crimes. Because laws control what is in our hearts and minds. So evil people cannot do bad things.

You can ban all the guns and those that want one will do so illegally. Only law abiding citizens follow laws.
