Now that the Pope has resigned?
I'm just wondering if he will still continue to wear the Papal ring he has been wearing since he was installed? I know he is dispensing with many of the other trappings and that he intends to go into seclusion for prayer and study but I was just curious about his traditional ring. Anyone have any ideas?

When a Pope dies, his ring is broken. Likewise, the now ex-Pope has taken his ring off and it will be destroyed.

he is losing his ring and his shoes. He keeps the robe.
and yes as lara said the papal seal once has significant potential power so it would be unthinkable for a non-pope to have access. Perhaps thats not relevant in the information age but the tradition is kept

No. Anytime there is a change in Pope, due to death or resignation, the ring is actually destroyed. During his reign, it is used as a wax seal on official documents. It is destroyed to prevent anyone from fraudulently using it.

It is customary that pope's ring will be destroyed so that it can't be used on documents. This is done regarding dead popes and will be done in his case, too
