Good Cruise Line rating site?

My wife and I have finely decided we will take a cruise. Given our location we are looking at leaving from New York or New Jersey but we may consider one of the Florida departure sites as well. What that means is we are limited pretty much to Norwegian Cruise Lines, Carnival Cruise Lines and/or Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines it seems. If anyone knows of any others, please let me know.

Anyway, I've been doing some checking online about passengers past experiences and I really get conflicting info. I don't know if some people are just overly critical or if the sites I was on can be trusted to provide realistic reviews. I'm to the point now where I am wondering if it's even worth the risk.

I'm wondering if anyone has an insight on a reliable site for cruise reviews. cruisecritic.com is what I had looked at already but maybe I should have just not bothered to check in the first place.

You might want to check out Celebrity. My wife and I did the Celebrity Summit out of Bayonne to Bermuda and it was great.

Different cruise lines have different vibes. Carnival is more party-party, especially the ones out of FL. We did one out of Baltimore (another port you should consider), and it was...ok. Part of the problem was it was chilly when we left, and Carnival is popular with people with kids, so the kids pretty much took over the hot tubs. Some parents have the attitude that the other guests and crew will baby sit and just let their kids run wild. I would to to the pool deck at 3 AM for a smoke and there would be 9 year olds running around.

Royal Caribbean is very popular, as it straddles the party-party lines and the higher end ones. I did my first cruise on RCCL on a small, older ship out of FL and quite enjoyed it. From what I understand, Princess is similar.

I did one Norwegian (also out of Baltimore) and it was weak. Mediocre food, services, and a higher redneck quotient than one would expect on a cruise. I think there was a square dancer convention or something. They were the kind of people who go to another country and complain about the foreigners.

Holland passengers tend to be older, Cunard passengers tend to be older and wealthier, same with Oceanic.

I like Celebrity. I love the food, quality of services, and even the decor. We try to avoid loads of kids and therefore cruise when they are in school; I just pull my youngest out for a week.

You will always find conflicting reviews. People are people, and they aren't all looking for the same thing. Some people like party-part and nonstop action, some just want to kick back and read a book. Some people really like going to the shows, in 6 cruises, I've never been to one. And if you give some people a million dollars, they'll complain that it's in 20s.

Cruise critic is great, but you can run into information overload. The best thing to do is narrow down where you want to go, or at least where you want to sail from, then research info specific to that criteria. You may also want to look into cruises out of Puerto Rico. We did one last Nov and enjoyed it so much were doing the same ship on a different itinerary this Nov.Flights to PR out of NY should be reasonable.

Anyway, some people like planned vacations, some don't. Some people want to relax, some people want to hike to the lost city of the Aztecs. Cruises are't for mountain climbers and the like. I work very hard, and when I go on vacation, I don't always want to worry about driving, where to eat, connecting flights, renting cars, etc. Once you set foot on a cruise ship, the hardest decision is "chicken or fish", and what excursions to take. When you get back, you don't need a vacation from your vacation. You are relaxed.

You simply have to know what to expect.

each holiday business enterprise has distinctive bargains wherein they reserve specific rooms and applications from the cruises. in simple terms save around and as quickly as you notice a solid deal leap on it for the reason which you will on no account be responsive to what holiday enterprise has the main effective partnership with despite the fact that cruise line.
