As a guy, how do you feel about having to wear a suit and tie for formal occasions/work?

Do you find them terribly confining and hot? I don't understand why men have not rebelled against this societal expectation. I've never worn a suit and tie, but it seems like it would be miserable. Also, there is so little opportunity to express yourself. What are your thoughts?

As any kinds of clothing, some are comfortable & some aren't.
If your shirt is the right size & collar right width then the shirt is pretty comfortable
If you tie the tie correctly & up to the collar but not too tight, then it feels great to look good.
Some blazers are itchy & heavy, but most suits are light & convenient.

All of your time off work and at casual events is when you can express yourself. Don't do it for a formal occasion or your gf will NOT be amused. And, if you go rogue at work, you will only have a problem for that one day because after that, you probably won't have a job. There are some things in life that you will never like but you have to accept, unless you rule the world of course. Ha!! : }

btw, men's suits are actually quite comfy. More so than skinny jeans for sure.

my personal experience of suits and ties is that they can be very comfortable- it's all about the correct fit and size. If a jacket or pants are too small then it will be uncomfortable, if it's too big it will look sloppy. If you buy the correct fitting clothes they will be comfortable to wear. Oh and yes of course you can still express your personality through color and design, pin stripes, checks, etc. You can bring coloue and personality in your choice of tie- a bow tie for example can make a statement.
