How and where can I get a seasonal job with no retail experience?

My winter break starts the day before christmas, and ends january 6th. Between those two points in time, I need to get a job, for various reasons. I would prefer to have a retail job, so that I can list it as experience later in life. My only experience working is as a childrens caretaker.

Any ideas on how and where I could find a job that is ok for running for only two weeks? I really need this, and I know Starbucks is REALLY hard to get into, since so many people apply.

Will I be ok in the right after christmas season? Returns and all that jazz...

No one will hire you for just two weeks. You wouldn't even finish training by the time you quit. 2 weeks of work would actually look WORSE on a resume/application than no experience at all.

Forget it until you're willing to actually work for a serious amount of time. Employers will toss your application in the garbage if they think you're looking for a job lasting any less than 12 months.

Employers have already hired their seasonal workers to start before December so they're fully efficient by the Christmas rush. No one hires this late in the game.

It can be pretty much any warm body, as long as you present yourself well. Experience doesn't matter much like other times of year, since they need so many people and most of the people will just be very temporary. Why didn't you apply for a seasonal job and get something to put on a resume?

Large chains and apply in September/October. There is still a chance now, but consider this next year, start in September (just before school starts is a good thing). Also consider temporary office agencies.

Abercrombie and hollister hire seasonal work, that was my first job when I was in high school. The hours are very flexible.
