math homework help please?
the owner of a deli finds that the number of sandwiches he sells in a day varies inversely with the price of the sandwiches. on monday he sold sandwiches for $4.50, and today he plans to sell them for $3.60. mondays tuna salad special netted 82 sales, so how many egg salad sandwiches should he expect to sell today?
please show it in a equation with work! thanks!

We are given that sales is proportional to 1/price.
The equation becomes Sales = k/Price where k is a constant
On Monday, he sold tuna salad sandwiches at $4.50 each and netted 82 sales.
So we have 82 = k/(4.50)
Multiply both sides of the equal sign by 4.50 and we get
(4.50)(82) = k
369 = k
So for today when he sells egg salad sandwiches at $3.60 each, we use the same equation along with k and today's price as follows:
Sales = k/Price
Sales = 369/($3.60)
Sales = 102.5 sandwiches
So when the price was $4.50, he sold 82.
And when the price was $3.60, he sold 102.5.
Do you see the inverse relationship of as price goes down, the sales go up?
