Is there an actual phobia of singing?

Or is it more like people just pass it off as stage fright?

I sing occassionally, but only to myself. A couple years back i had a really bad experience and since i havent been able to sing in front of ANYONE, even sometimes to myself. If i try even with one person (be it a family member, close friend, boyfriend) I just can't. Its not just the normal, im insecure or scared, i literally start having troubles making any sound at all, i start sweating and getting emotional, i tear up and start shaking and i freeze up for ages. People start getting really worried when this happens and i rly want to change but i've tried and just cant. I know most people just say its nerves, but its so much more than that. Its like whenever someone tells me to sing and i try my past comes back to haunt me and then i just break.

My main questions are: Is there an actual phobia? If so whats its name and is there any way i can get over this without psychological help? I have no money but its a huge problem right now.

I think that since you are able to sing to yourself that you just have anxiety attacks when singing in front of others. If you were literally afraid of singing you wouldn't be able to sing at all. You can try convincing yourself that singing isn't bad and that you are overreacting. It also helps when the people you are singing to are smiling or look relaxed and make you comfortable. What you can do when you get money is next time you go to the doctors ask tell them about your anxiety attacks and they can prescribe you medicine that will help you get over your anxiety so that you can sing in front of others. I have anxiety like this and medications really help. And there is most likely an actual phobia of singing but I doubt you have it, you may have ptsd too though since it's like getting a lot of flashbacks from traumatic events.

I think the same as "Pearl L" but when it comes to a karaoke or in my room I like singing to my fave tunes. I don't think it's a terrible thing, but stage fright and everything else might get to you, don't let it.

I think that you're just afraid of the past happening, but time has gone, make the future better, I'm sure you're a great singer inside :)
