41 weeks and 1 day ultrasound?

Today I'm 41 weeks and 1 day pregnant. My doctors scheduled for me to have an ultrasound. They made it seem like such a problem that I went over my due date. I thought it was common for first time moms to go over the due date. Now that I have been paranoid for a week, should my baby be ok? He kicks all the time. Only frustrating thing is I haven't had any signs of labor. No contractions. No back pain. Doesn't seem like the baby has dropped because I still can't breath. Each time I go to the doctor they tell me his head is down. My last appointment I was 1/2 dialted 50% effaced. Is this all normal?

Please don't listen to Anna regarding the epidural or the ultrasound.

IF you were to get induced you DON'T have to get the epidural, plenty of people get induced and deliver naturally. Also they couldn't tell if your baby was distressed with a doppler, that would only let your listen to the heart. If they're concerned about your baby then you should be getting non-stress tests. 

Also it's perfectly normal to go past your due date. They may be scheduling an induction, as a caution.

Your dilation means nothing in terms of when you'll go into labor. You still have time to go by yourself. And head down doesn't mean he's dropped.
