Are there organizations that help pay for vet Bills for abandoned cats?

I live in Waterloo county in Ontario Canada. I have been caring for the sweetest cat named Twinkie since her owner abandoned her 2 years ago. I just paid a vet bill for $920.00 for surgery because I couldn't let this sweet kitty (or any animal) suffer.

I was online and saw there are organizations that pay vet bills in what they call good Samaritan cases but I have not found any in my area. If anyone knows where I can get help I honestly need it because this is an enormous amount of money for me.There may be more vet bills in the future.

It turns out that Twinkie has fibrosarcoma. She is recovering very well after a tumour the size of a soft ball was removed 10 days ago and there are no signs of regrowth thus far!!!!!

Thanks for reading.

    hi Chrissie,

I took care of an entire colony of cats in my previous apartments. I lived in Austin, TX. There, an organization called "Animal Rights and Kinship" was my sponsor. I brought ailing cats to my vet who in turn was reimbursed by the association which was privately funded.

It is always difficult to get reimbursed after the fact (generally with anything you do) but you may find out who your animal benefactors are in your area,. A non kill shelter or the SPCA could give you that info or just google in a request, i.e. animal welfare organization. Vets have become so expensive in the last decade that the average person cannot afford them. The future looks even more grim with greed being the number one motivation in medicine. I think they toppled the Hippocratic Oath.

Start googling, or contact a number of feline rescues about this. I have lists for the USA but not Canada. However any online cat lists may know of someting in Ontario specifically, or put you in touch with someone who does know. Your local groups can help too.

You can also google 'help with vet bills in Canada'.

Stop e begging You shouldn't have had the cat operated on if you couldn't afford the vet bill. You should have surrendered it or had it put down.

There are sometimes low cost vet programs and spay neuter programs by the SPCA. I know of absolutely no organizations that will reimburse you for what you've already spent.
