In Islam, adoption is discouraged or forbidden, but I'm not sure why? Does anyone know?

My husband and I are Foster Parents, and we are taking care of two little Muslim sisters. We are Christian, but I am wondering why there are no Muslim foster parents out there who would take care of these two children? They love to come to Church with us, as they enjoy the singing hymns and such, but shouldn't they be going to Mosque and learning to follow their own faith?

Update:

The Agency doesn't have any Muslim foster parents, and never has had any.

It is very good of you, very fair, very true Christian to see it this way. May God bless you for being a true follower of the Christ. I suggest you contact nearest mosque and explain the situation. There may be Muslims registered to be foster parents in your community but that the agency that placed the girls with you did not consider religion should match, an error on their part that may be correctable if you find a Muslim foster family so that the agency cannot lie to you (to deny its error) that one is not available.

Hi, I can see why you think this, so I've compiled a couple of links for you to explain, far better than I could, the true situation:

    http://islam.about.com/cs/parenting/a/adoption.htm

    http://www.wisemuslimwomen.org/images/activism/Ado...

    http://www.minaret.org/adoption.htm

Hopefully these clear things up for you a bit.

I am very concerned that you are not acting in the best interests of the children in taking them to a Christian church, this is likely to cause confusion and even shame in the children when they return to their Muslim faith. I urge you to seriously reconsider your actions in this regard, and to urgently seek the advice and support of leaders in the Islamic community.

Adoption is neither discouraged nor forbidden in Islam. It is only indirectly stated that 'adoption' is legally invalid when it comes to disputes.

you are really fair,i like that.

But it isn't mean that "Islam forbids addoption or discouraged it".here you are wrong.I'm in pakistan and know plenty of people in my area who have adopted childs.
