It doesn't matter. Barack Obama had promised to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay during his campaign. McCain promised the same thing. George W.Bush had promised to do the same. It was a popular issue. Obama was preparing to move prisoners to an empty never-used prison in western Illinois. Locals were looking forward to the jobs that would be brought to the area. First. Obama needed to deal with a group of Uighurs, Muslims from China, caught in a sweep and imprisoned at Guantanamo. He had found a place in northern Virginia to move them to and a local community organization to support them. A Virginia Congressman protested and got enough votes to pass a resolution forbidding any Guantanamo prisoners from being moved to U.S. soil.
I don't like that they're all being held at Guantanamo. But what would you do? Can't move them to the United States. Congress forbids it. Can't release them. They haven't been tried yet. It's a bad situation with no easy answers

Who gives a sh*t about money, this place is nothing short of a sinister and fascist concentration camp.
