How do Peruvian-americans feel about constant references to Zimmerman as 'white hispanic' ...?
...
Ever since the media labeled GZ as 'white hispanic' and not 'american of peruvian descent' or 'peruvian american', people here at YA are constantly referring to it when asking questions.
I see that the word 'latino' left out altogether, as in 'white latino' and really would like some insight.
Thank you.

.@mWolf and GEN:
20 latin american countries have one sure thing in common, the spanish language, a romance language with latin roots.
There are many ethnic nuances and dialects in the various communities/native groups based on their experience with colonialists and conquistadors. In the end they all speak spanish.

@Gtls: Yes, I acknowledged his mixed parentage in my quest....which is: how do people who are peruvian (or other latin national) feel about the use of the tag 'white hispanic' ?
I had hoped for a dialogue on this...

Hispanic people can be black, white, Asian or anything else. Hispanic is not a race. In fact many Hispanics identified themselves as white.

I don't understand why you call them "Latinos" since the word Latin originated from the Roman Empire, and the people of the South Americas are certainly not descendants of the Roman Empire...

Apparently only one of his parents is actually Hispanic, so maybe they mean mixed race half-white, half-Hispanic.
Just like Obama is a white black (half-white, half-black).
