Are you aware of the dog food recall?
Diamond dog food has expanded its recall (due to salmonella) which humans have contracted from handling the food. It now includes a number of its brands, not just Diamond Puppy (as was previously reported). Taste of the Wild (a grain-free Diamond brand) & Canidae (made there) are also included. See this link FMI:

Contact information (phone number) for questions, is also on the above link.
This is NOT the first Diamond dog food recall. Will this change your buying habits?

I'm very well aware of it. In fact, I just asked a similar question several hours ago. Here's the link to my question:

I will check the bag I bought last week, but yes, I do plan on sticking with Taste of the Wild.

That IS a big recall, and there are some pretty big-name, respected foods on that list. My dogs' food (Kirkland) is on the list, but not my state. Who the heck keeps a dog food bag around to check the production code??? I dump the food into the storage bin when I buy it and throw the bag away! My dogs seem OK (have already eaten most of the bag) and no one in the family has become sick, so I think we're in the clear. But I feel like we dodged a bullet, and I know some were not so lucky. Wish this stuff was better-regulated.

I feed my dog Chicken Soup For the Dog Lover's Soul made by Diamond. My dog used to have seizures before I switched to this food. She does really well on it but due to all the recalls (Diamond has a lot of them) I have two bags on hand. One is a month older than the other. I figure that way I will find out if there is a recall before I start feeding my dog the food.

Thanks for the update!
Point of clarification though - I believe TOTW, Wellness, etc. are not Diamond brands - they simply use Diamond's manufacturing facility.
I am surprised to hear Wellness and Canidae apparently uses their facility? I knew TOTW did.
My buying habits changed after two of my cats were poisoned in the 2007 melamine thing.
At that time, I started taking a closer look at brands' ingredients and the manufacturing practices, and weeded out all but a few producers.
I also explored raw diets, and to this day I feed my dogs a homecooked or raw, meat/organ/bone based diet, with kibble (TOTW) to help buffer the balanced nutrition.
I was comfortable with TOTW using Diamond's facility. While the salmonella thing is a little bit unsettling, its not neccesarily a huge red flag to quit all brands made there,
I'll bet in the wake of this, the Diamond facility will catch hell from all their client brands - and out of pure reputation damage control for themselves and their client brands - will scrub the entire place to a squeaky clean shine and be one of the most copacetic facilites in the business.
I'm not going to overreact to this

This is my answer to a similar question that I answered this morning. It is verbatim.
"I will continue to feed TOTW. I have found that it's a good food and that my dogs do well on it. I have also learned over the years that just about every major brand of dog food has had at least one recall. It doesn't matter if the food is considered healthy or crap. Below is an enlightening list. You also have to realize that there are a lot of human foods that have been recalled. I still eat spinach, cantaloupe, peanut butter, hot dogs, hamburger, packaged lettuce, sprouts, chicken and many other at one time recalled foods. I know that there are people that will tell you to feed raw. That's fine but a lot of meats have been on the recall lists over the years. I guess that the safest food for pets and people is that you raise yourself. I don't know of many people that have the knowledge, time, money or the space to so so."
So my answer to your question is no.

No this will not change my buying habits. There have been many dog food companies that have had recalls. Credible sources have indicated that it was a preventative voluntary recall by Diamond and there have been no reported illnesses.

Well I've never really fed any of these brands except my mom used to buy the Kirkland lamb & rice and mixed it with our other food to make it last longer, but we stopped doing that a couple years ago, and now I'm glad we did. Back then we still fed Natural Choice though, and now we feed Natural Balance. I'm always on the lookout for food recalls, because you just never know, and no body wants to deal with this kind of thing. I plan on sticking to brands that don't have a bad history of food recalls.

I've never bought this brand before, but I'm glad that you are spreading this around because I certainly have not heard of the recall, which means several others may not be as well which could be hazardous to their beloved pets.

Back in February, I found a completely different brand's kibble in my 5lb bag of TOTW. This kibble was a totally different color and shape/size. It was without a doubt not a misshaped kibble, but from a different brand. That's when I stopped using TOTW.

Hi.
You just answered my question about my dog eating a pill..
I literally have to take him to the vet to get his teeth brushed. 3 months ago It took 5 of us to attempt to brush his teeth(big fail)
He flips out if you try to put anything in his mouth. Legitimately flops like a fish out of water.
My number one first try was putting a medicine dropper in his mouth with 10 Ml of peroxide. There was no way I could pin him down. Sitting on him puts me on my butt and I end up hurting myself by hitting my head on something. And once he gets out of my hold, there is no catching him.
