Throat has been feeling tight and it's affecting my singing. Please help!?

About a month ago I started having a lot of mucous build up in my throat and was coughing up yellow crap. I went to see my doctor and he told me it wasn't a sinus infection but just sinus congestion. He give me that Neilmed sinus rinse stuff and I tried it a couple of times. Lately I've been taking nasal spray every morning and taking mucous relief tablets. I'm not coughing up the yellow crap anymore but my throat still feels really tight and it's hard for me to sing. Please help me out because I love singing and hope to play in a band sometime soon!

You might just be straining your throat from singing a lot or your throat could still be healing.

Try drinking hot (not scorching hot though) tea with lemon and honey

Try not to talk or scream so that your throat can relax

Or try putting a tsp of salt into a cup of warm water and then you gargle and spit and repeat until the concoction is gone. Salt disinfects and can help a swollen throat. Don't rinse your mouth or throat after you've gargled though bc you want the salt to marinate in your throat.

Hope this helps and good luck with your band!
