    mass of metal = 1.054 g

mass of metal oxide = 1.187g

    mass of O = 1.187 - 1.054 = 0.133 g or .133 / 16 moles of O = 0.008313 moles

If the metal oxide is M2O the moles of M = 0.008313 x 2 moles

    molar mass of M = 1.054/ 0.01663

    = 63.40 g / mol .. copper

it helps if you give the correct data
