Honda Question??? I dont get why?

Why do people buy mid 90's hondas and put several times the worth of the car into appearance items? Body kits in areas where they grind on the grounds over pot holes

Exhausts and CAI's then drive around over-revving

4000 dollar rims (see above note on pot holes)

And my personal favorite-Spoilers. They're 110 hp FWD cars for christs sakes.

I had an accord and respect hondas as cars, but when I'm out in my mustang I always get people pulling up along side me and talking trash, and then watching as my car takes off. (Personally annoys me when they do it on a main drag/highway because they'll either pass me and stop or ride on my rear bumper until I take off)

    I figure there's 2 reasons.

Reason A) Racer wannabe's on a really low budget barely making ends meet saw a Fast and the Furious movie or witnessed something similar that made them think "Oh cool, I wanna be a street racer too!!!". So they go out and buy anything cheap they can find. Figure out they dunno anything about an engine so instead they just try to look fast and act macho by revving their stock Civic with a home-made intake to go with their 100% stock engine. But tons and tons of cosmetic work to be supa-fast.

Reason B) It's just what they like and every enthusiast has their own taste. Thank goodness because if we were all going around in the same cars with the same mods then things would get really boring really fast.

I had a Mustang before my Honda and every bonehead in an import thinking they were the **** would rev at me. After the Mustang went because of problems I changed to a Civic. It was boring at first but I did do a lot of engine work, it's exhaust is real quiet and aside from rims and window tint it looks all stock yet I STILL get guys in their trucks, Mustangs, Camaros, anything with a V6 or V8 revving at me now and then when I'm just minding my own business. From my experience, whatever you drive as long as you're not "that guy" then there's always going to be some idiot revving at you when you're just driving to do what you gotta do.

Because of the aftermarket support for them and a little movie called The Fast and the Furious. It's people that do what you mentioned above that gives imports a bad name, and stereotypes all Honda Civic drivers as "ricers". That all we want to do is put a fart cannon, altezza taillights, a goofy body kit, and a ton of stickers that add 10 hp each. I drive an 04 Civic Si has an intake and rims and a few other minor mods like brakes, but I don't drive around acting like I want to race every car on the road. It really is a disgraced to every car enthusiast especially those who like imports

It's mostly because of 3 main reasons. They're cheap. They have a slough of aftermarket parts available. And because of the VTEC engine. They all think that because the s2000 uses a vtec and goes like stink, that their 99 civic will do the same, plain and simple. I also own a mustang and experience the same thing. glad to know i'm not alone

i blame the F & F movies, they are ruining the import scene with their all show no go approach

hell, i drive a 2011 mazdaspeed 3 with a racepipe, intake, turbo inlet pipe, mechanical fuel pump internals, and a tune i did myself with a cobb accessport... but i have 0 appearance mods and i dont race anyone on the street

a good friend of mine has a 04 sti making 550 whp and he tells me constantly every civic with a can tries to race him, but he doesnt know why... were trying a trunk swap so he can lose the stock sti spoiler and hopefully lay lower

and honestly its not just hondas, there are plenty of domestic boys that pile on the pepboys stick on **** on their truck or mustang etc

because they want to and they get to do that if they have the money but I agree with your thinking
