Kaspersky, or Bitdefender, they are always the top performers in comparisions, see this comparison:

    http://www.av-comparatives.org/images/stories/test...

This test period shows norton as the best AV, and I did not say they are the best because they always move around in how well they do in this test, Kaspersky, and bitdefender are always on top, and if you asked me I would suggest Kaspersky.

I also recommend MBAM pro for maximum protection, it is the best all around anti-malware program out, and will work fine with an anti virus program, you can get it here:

25 dollars for a lifetime license.

After many years of using free A/V and anti malware I installed a Norton trial Internet security 2012 on my daughters and granddaughters computers.I always felt Norton was a huge resource hog but the latest version was vastly improved. So much so that after three months I have installed it on my computer which seems considerably more responsive. My choice now until something better comes along.

Depends if you wants something free go to Microsoft Security Essential ,AVG or Avast .These 3 are among the best and if you can afford to buy a good anti virus I suggest you McAfee. Further to these I recommend you to install Malwarebytes on each computer so you will be protected from any Malware as well.Good luck.

No doubt it's BitDefender... it does an excellent job and is easy to use. I used to have Norton but now that I have BitDefender I would never go to any other ant-virus. BitDefender is well worth the price.
