HARDWOOD FLOOR SCRATCHES, I was playing with a dog at Christmas & now my hardwood is full of surface scratches?

The hardwood is ash in light and medium tones. It's almost brand new and has a polyurethane finish.

How do I repair this? Thanks

First of all dont panic....go to Home Depot or Lowes or a smillar store and in the paint department they have wood stain pens. It would help if you have a sample of your flooring so you can match the color but since its going to just be scratch cover, it probably isnt going to matter if its not EXACT. Get the closest shade to your floor and follow the directions on the package. Buff it out and clean the floors like normal after it dries. It should last for a while but thats what the stain pens are made for! They cost about $6 last time I checked. And next time, play with the dog on a rug or something lol.

If the scratches are only in the surface finish and not into the wood, you can screen the area and put on another coat of poly.

If the scratches are deeper and into the wood, and the floor is "real" hardwood and not that pre-finished stuff, you can sand them out and refinish the area.

If the floor is that pre-finished stuff, the only thing you can do is replace it.
