Chips okay in a used snowboard?

My neighbour is selling me his old burton snowboard he got for 400$ to me for 120$ ish. Its a pretty nice board other than there are quite a few chips on the top layer edges of the board. There's probably a lot of scrapes on the bottom too.

Is this a good price? Too high? Should i get a different board why or why not?

P.s. i have the binding adapters for burton so don't worry about bindings.

How big are the chips and how many? 2 chips at about .7 of an inch would be to much for me. But if the piece of the top sheet is still their just pulled away from the board it can be epoxied. If the pieces are gone they can also be epoxied to keep water from coming in.

What do you mean by chips on the edges? are the edges bad, bent, or cracked, check that. Bent or cracked limits the life of the board or makes a costly repair. As for the scrapes on the bottom a base grind could take care of that deep gashes could be filled in but can also limit the life of the board.

Overall, from what you described i wouldn't pay 120 more around $70-90. If you could post pics or email them to me i could help you better.

I would see if he'd go to a snowboard shop that repairs boards with you, and ask how much the repairs would cost to have the board safe and functional. Then make the decision from there. If you end up having to drop several hundred into the board for repairs, it's not going to be worth it.

Also, check out Illuminati Snowboards. Their boards are amazing, and their prices are good.
