Microsoft Office has disappeared from my laptop. What could I have done to cause this ? How do I get it back ?

Update:

I am running on Windows Vista Business.

I have done so many things recently - it is difficult to backtrack but it looks to me that I have somehow uninstalled Microsoft Office when I thought I was uninstalling something else. Can I recover it ?

Update 2:

Thank you Techno. I have tried system restore several times since posting this question. It runs through the whole process then tells me it failed because of an unspecified error.

Click the Start button>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore, pick a date before the problem and confirm. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    Or

On start up (before Windows loads) keep tapping either F5, F8 or F10 (be aware that some manufacturers use F8/F10 for system recovery) then use arrow keys to highlight 'Last known good configuration' hit Enter/Return, click on a user account, enter the password (if you don't know it, there probably isn't one so leave it blank) and hit Return/Enter.

If that doesn't work, try again, but this time highlight 'Safe Mode' hit Enter/Return, click on a user account, enter the password (if you don't know it, there probably isn't one so leave it blank) and hit Enter/Return.

A window will pop up asking if you want to carry on with safe mode or use system restore. Choose system restore, pick a date and time before the problem occurred and confirm.

**Be aware that restoring in Safe Mode cannot be undone!**

Have you removed any programs or deleted any program files ?

Did you install any new programs or hardware recently ? Run a scan for virus/malware/spyware.

Look in all programs and go to control panel and click add/remove scroll list and see if it is listed.

Programs do not just uninstall there self.

  • Did the icons disappear from the desktop or was the program uninstalled?

Guessing this is a Windows computer (you didn't say) have you gone into the menu and looked for it? Used Windows explorer or the search program?

i am the asker of the question about CALCULUS to which you are the only one who answered.

i am trying to contact you for further information about calculus and i see 'answering' this question of yours as the only one way.

i wrongly tried answering my own calculus question believing without much thinking that that will reach you,and instantly, after i had posted my answer to my question, understanding that it will come to my email, not yours. so i am contacting you this way.

first,i have kinda of an answer,a lame one i am afraid,to your microsoft question. i once lost a medical site i am the member of from my inbox by no fault of mine. so i wrote to that site and told them about it. and then they put me again on their list of people enrolled for their newsletter. i dont believe this method is good for your trouble cos you can not write to anyone from the microsoft about their disappearance from your laptop. or can you? i hope you got helped by your answerer above.

second,i hope you explain the calculus to me as a lay woman much more simple, starting with the very basis, like what is a curve and why it is important for mathematics and geometry to know all about it. the curve. but if you want to help me,then please find my question about the curve to which you answered, easy done by getting in your profile,if you cant in mine, and finding your answer to me in the list of your answers.

when you have found my curve question, you will also find there my answer to my question, where i explained it all about archimed and his palimpsest recently found, where he exposes his method and the book author explains that archimed laid the bases of curve calculations,on which bases newton and galiley continued. this author,an exert of ancient science and mathematics believes,he is a jew, that archimed is the top mathematician ever existed and that without his geometry no further science in this field would be possible. of course this is true for the founders of the wheel but we dont know them while we know of archimed. if you are,as a mathematician i believe, are interested in archimeds palimsest, google book review with these words and you will find the book and reviews about it. and learn more of why this guy who wrote the book on this newly found archimedes palimsests think archimedes is the king of mathematics over newton and galiley. and thus over einstain and hawiking. but its easy for him being a jew and not english and american thou einstein and galiley were not anglosaxsons as newton and hawkig are.

so plese find my answer, and yours, to my question on calculus,so that you know what i know about it. and then try to help me understand calculus better. i hope i helped you telling you about archimedes palimsest. which is a book written in the late tenth century on perchment ,recently found, but unfortunately the original archimedes text was scrapped away from the book later and some prays were written over it. but imaging scientists succeeded in reading most of archimed texts undr the prayers text. and now we know what archimed knew about calculus and all of mechanics and mathematics. he knew it all. but he was killed by a roman soldier while still active as a scientist and engineer. and so was socrates killed, but by his nationals, the idiot greeks. i am semi greek. lol
