Action potentials are generated in the axon. These so-called trigger areas are generally a response to accumulated actions generated due to membrane potential reaching a threshold app. -55mV a depolarization of about 15 mV.This leads to a self propagating action in the axon transmitted to the peripheral neurons through synaptic receptors. This overlapping action potential are opening and closing of ion gates and subsequent changes in membrane potentials.
