My research paper, help please?

So I was thinking of doing it on paranormal activities/ urban legends. This kind of stuff really freaks me out lol. It also interests me alot. I've just read of the bloody marry and just reading it I will think twice before I look at a dark mirror.

I need 5 main points for my paper, im not sure which are the most popular legends I should cover. I think one will be bloody marry, maybe the bell witch. So if you know of any freaky/ spooky legends I should cover leave your suggestions please.

Please don't be an *** and troll.

I heard whistling at night invites ghosts.

Another one I heard is that opening your umbrella in and enclosed area (i.e walls and ceiling) has a chance of trapping a spirit if one happens to be floating around. This means when you bring the umbrella home and open it presto, you have an unwelcome tenant.

If you are interested you can read on about some urban legends from Eastern cultures.

For the Chinese around August the gates of hell are thrown open and spirits roam the our world (kinda like Halloween). Called the hungry ghost festival, there are a bunch a stuff you should not do unless you want your dead people knocking on your door.

E.g Do not eat the food you offered to the spirits.

Turn your shirt inside out after visiting graveyards

Do not leave by the same way you entered the graveyard.

For the Malay culture stick a pin with a red piece of string tied to it into a banana tree. Tie another piece of red string to the end of your bed. A "vampire" not the Western or Twilight kind, just some low level spirit /demon called a pontianak will visit you, asking you remove it in return for doing something for you (a common thing is asking for lottery numbers).

If you don't keep your promise, or someone else removes the pin...you're in a lot of s**t.

Another urban legend involves a belief about summoning spirits to ask questions which is common in Malaysia and some other nearby countries. It involves finding a "haunted tree" or basically a tree devoid of leaves but is not dead for some reason (which is harder than it sounds in a tropical/equatorial country). Then you make some food offering and summon the spirit who will then answer your questions.

One other urban legend works like a ouji board. Basically you get a coin and gather a small group people and everyone puts a finger on the coin. You then summon the spirit to possess the coin. Then its pretty much ouji board activity. One condition is that no should let go of the coin until the spirit has been called off otherwise the spirit will be let loose in the room and someone in the room is going to have an unwelcome friend following them home.
