The darkroom went out of most shops when the automated mini lab appeared years ago. These days a select few shops still have a darkroom and they will teach you.

In this day and age, a dark room is not likely to be a job requirement for most shops. You may have a few around who still do chemical processing, but not many. I would think that you would be better positioned if you had Photoshop skills and digital kiosk experience that you can impart to customers.
