How do you act serious?
Whenever I try to take things seriously I always sound like im acting or being patronizing /don't even care. Like when someone confides in me their problems i just sound like I don't care. How can I fix this??

Think about what the person is saying and about what your going to say BEFORE you actually say it. This way it will give them the satisfaction that you are actually interested and serious about what they are telling you. Good Luck! ;)

First of all, do not "act". Maybe this is your problem. If you are not genuinely interested the other person and anyone else observing will quickly notice.
