Winnipeg Jets schedule?

Has anyone looked at the whole schedule? From Nov 29 to Dec 31 they play 15 games and all but two are at home. Essentially, the players will get to spend almost the entire month of December at home.

Do you think this is a coincidence or did the NHL do this on purpose so the players could spend the first December in a new city with their family?

I have the "NHL Classic" package on the nhl website, and you can look at games from the past couple of years. The one thing I've noticed when I'm looking up games for certain teams by their calendar, most clubs seem to have one month where they literally host 10+ games. Then they have one month where they are on the road 10+. So I just assume the league balances out schedules like that.

But it certainly is nice to see that Winnipeg will have a great stretch over the Holiday. Hopefully we make a playoff push during that time.

If you look at the schedule you will notice that of their first 15 games 11 are played on the road. This is called evening up. With the move to Winnipeg there was a fast track approach to the schedule so there are a lot of block scheduling this year. This is a faster and more simple way to produce a schedule.

I remember one piece on the TV where they had said there were some logistics issues with the change in venue & can't remember the details, sorry...

I wouldn't be shocked if a let them settle in mentality was involved...not to mention a lot of those guys have already made comments about getting used to the weather & let's face it, December is probably the mildest of our winter months...better to have them settle in & have 13 games at home then than in February, eh???

The NHL claims the schedule was done BEFORE any of this was known, so they would have been spending time in Nashville and depending on how it was set up that would have likely just been convenient.

simply by fact the low season became ruled by skill of the NHL Lockout and putting the Jets interior the superb branch became no longer a concern for Bettman. This summer, i think of Nashville/Columbus and Winnipeg will change divisions and placed them interior the superb branch

Their first game is against Montreal. Go to winnipegjets.com and see the schedule for yourself.

Perhaps it was done to allow the players

    across the lakes...
