    I don't think they were going for that. I think the movement was more about being bad-a5s and revolutionary without being all hyper and glitzy like a lot of the punk bands were. Long live grunge!

    Plus, it started in Seattle, which is such a dreary city. That dreariness I think is expressed in a lot of the music by bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, etc.
