can someone help me with genetics probability? thanks?

some traits from different pedigrees show autosomal & some x linked. in each family you find one child affected. what recurrence risk did you give the parents for the next child in the family?

    Since not all the children are affected it means that the gene is a recessive gene and that both parents carry the gene so the probability would be 1:4. That being said it is a chance encounter by the recessive genes which would put the probability at 1:1. It is kind of like playing the lottery. Your numbers have a 1:1 chance of winning the big prize.
