My Nintendo wii is not showing the hand symbols?

MY nintendo wii sensor is fine, the controllers are fine (replaced all new) but my wii is not showing the hand symbols to select from the wii menu. Yet I can press side to side to scroll through the wii menu as well as select the wii menu but there is no sensor to choose games, etc.

Anyone know what to do?

It seems to be a problem with your remotes picking up the ultraviolet(UV) light from the "sensor" bar. The "sensor" bar is nothing but an array of ten UV LED's (five on the left and five on the right). The real sensor is in the form of a UV camera in the front of the remote that tracks the position of the LED array. You should try a simple test to find the source of the problem. A digital camera can pick up the UV wavelengths and display them in the LCD display as visible light. Point the digital camera at the "sensor" bar while the Wii is on and if you cannot see the LED array in the screen then you have a problem with the bar. If you have the bar that plugs into the back of the Wii, it could also be the plug and you could maybe try a wireless "sensor" bar. If you can see the array in the camera screen, then the problem lies within the remote. This doesn't necessarily mean that the remote is bad though. It could be that there is an outside source of UV light in the room causing interference therefore confusing the remote. You can use the same method with the digital camera to test for other sources of UV light that may be interfering with the remote (most likely some other remote control device).

    Hope this helps.

Light a candle & point the wiimote at it. If it works, then your sensor bar is bad. If it doesn't show the lil hand on the screen, then you have to keep resyncing them til they work. If you're using the rechargeable battery packs, then replace them with regular AA batteries. You can also try cleaning the sensor bar, wiimote sensor, & position the wii out of direct sunlight.
