Linux rtl8188 driver problem?

I'm trying Ubuntu and Debian Linux. I have driver install files from Realtek (rtl8188/rtl8192) but it requires root to run make etc. Problems are that Ubuntu does not provide the root password setup and Debian (huge disk1) does not come with make etc. Without this driver installed I have no network access under Linux.

Ubuntu uses your password + sudo in order to run commands as root. For example to run the command install as root:

    sudo install programname

then it will ask you for your password and perform the command. See the first link for a fuller explanation of root and sudo.

The second link has info about installing the wireless driver driver.

    Good luck
