Benefits of Prestige on COD Black OPS?

This is my first CoD game and so I have no clue what the benefits of prestigeing is or even if I should.

All I hear is you lose everything, but what exactly do you lose? Whats the gain from it? 

I just need information on prestige pretty much/

You gain more emblems, backgrounds, and custom classes. You lose basically everything else. If you don't like the challenge of getting all your guns and pro perks back then don't prestige. But I suggest not taking the easy path and make the multiplayer have more playability.

Prestige Glitch is the fastest way to rank up after you prestige. If you win, you'll be level 1 with $30,000 able to buy any perks, attachments and equipment, giving you a great start and being able to blow through the earlier levels much faster. The only benefits are that prestige is that you get new emblems for your player card and more layers. But i don't recommend doing it you would lose all your guns,camo,perks So unless you want more emblems i would not prestige.

You DO keep all emblems though

There are other perks as well. There are multiple levels of prestige, and they open more face camouflage, weapon camouflage, and playercard options.
