a question about WIC?
I am pregnant and am going to go on the WIC program, I have a few questionsfor any woman who has ever been involved. The website does not give very much information. How often do you have to recertify? Also is formula covered and if so is it only certain brands? Do I need paperwork from my DR before I go? I have a 2 year old also so do I need anything from her DR?
Nicole you stupid low life I DO WORK but i meet the income guidelines to qualify so you can just go mind your own business

1. every three months.
2.) they provide formula if you choose not to nurse, if you do nurse they will help with supplementing- but you wont get as much formula if you choose to nurse- which they will erge you to try. And they only do the orignial unless you have a doctors referell for a different type of formula (my daughter needed soy instead) and it depends on where you live if its Similac or Enfamil
3.)You need proof of pregnancy and income.
4.)they will poke the 2 year olds finger. bring his or her social security card, birth certificate and shot record.

I recertify every 3 months. Formula is covered but only a certain amount, and it's Enfamil only. I don't think I had to have paperwork from the doc but they did want shot records and you need to take your 2 year old with you. They will want to check everything out and make sure they are healthy. Hope this helps!

WIC stands for Women, Infants and Children. WIC provides supplemental nutrition to pregnant woman and children up to the age of five years old. So, yes, your child who is 2 also qualifies to be covered under the program.
WIC does cover formula. However, it is strongly encouraged that you breastfeed because this is free for you and for the state, and it is immensely healthier for the baby. There is bonding time for you and your baby, plus breast milk helps develop your baby's immune system, his or her neurological system and so on. There is also research that suggests that babies who are breastfed maintain healthier body weights.
Remember that WIC is only supplemental. They provide: cereal (12 ounces or larger), milk, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, juice, beans/peas/lentils, tuna, and infant cereal and formula. You will probably not receive all of the formula that your baby needs if you choose to formula feed only. Once you have used all of the formula WIC provides in a month, you're on your own to buy whatever else your baby might need.
Many times they will also ask you to choose between certain foods. For instance, you may be asked to choose between milk or cheese or peanut butter and beans/peas/lentils. They will give you a food guide of what you can and cannot purchase with your WIC coupons, and the stores also have a list. Many grocery stores also have WIC approved food programmed into their computers so if you tried to purchase something not on the list, it won't allow it to be rung up.
I have included a link in the sources that you might want to check out as far as approved foods are concerned. I hope this helps. Good luck to you and your family!

You will need proof of income proof of address and Social Security card. I have to go there every three months and where i live they start you on Goodstart formula but if your baby has complications they will work with you as long as you get something from your doctor saying your baby cannot have that formula i switched three times and now im on similac sensitive. Good Luck! As for the 2 year old i think you need their birth certificate.

Nothing for the 2 year old, you will need a pregnancy confirmation letter from your Dr. and yes it covers formula after birth and yes its certain brands only - it use to be Similac not sure what they give out these days
As for re-certifying I believe its once every 3 months

you go once a month and they picked the brand of formula on the wic check and you don't need nothing from the doctor unless the doctor wants to change the baby formula
