iTunes freezes when I click on it?

When I click on the iTunes icon, it pops up, with a pop-up warning me that my volume on iTunes is low. When I try to click ok, it freezes, and stays there. So to fix this I get on my internet to research it, with iTunes up.

I can get on my internet and stuff, but if i try to minimize it, its frozen up on the screen until I click it again [keep in mind iTunes is open] eventually I have to turn off my computer. And restart it.

I pop up iTunes again [it does the same thing], wait 10 minutes without getting on the internet, and restart the computer again. Problem is occurring right now.

My iPod isn't in the computer so that isn't instigating the problem.
