Why are ghosts expected in cemeteries?
If departed spirits hang around, why wouldn't they be where the person lived, or where they died? Hanging around a decaying corpse makes no sense to me. Yet, many people are afraid of cemeteries, especially after dark.

Hospitals should be even more haunted than cemetaries.

It honestly doesn't make sense that they would hang around where they were buried AFTER their death. I think that the creep factor involved with cemeteries is the fact that there are dead and decaying bodies buried all around you--maybe it would be freakier if you believed that people might come back as zombies.
I just think that cemeteries are peaceful and a little depressing, personally.

I think it's because people have accepted that ghosts are the spirits of people . . . humans. But I've been convinced for a while that the spirits of dead people aren't on earth at all. And the only place I can think of as to what kind of spirits hang around on earth are these:
1 Enoch (Ethiopic)
6. But you were formerly spiritual, living the eternal life, and immortal for all generations of the world. 7. And therefore I have not appointed wives for you; for as for the spiritual ones of the heaven, in heaven is their dwelling. 8. And now, the giants, who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. 9. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; because they are born from men and from the holy Watchers is their beginning and primal origin; they shall be evil spirits on earth, and evil spirits shall they be called. 10. [As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling, but as for the spirits of the earth which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.] 11. And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, but nevertheless hunger and thirst, and cause offences. 12. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them.

ya know i don't know why people think that either. ghost are expected at cemeteries because they are thought to linger where their fleshly body lays. i guess to hold on to what they had on this earth. however, i believe that our spirits do not remain on this earth. when we die we face the final judgment of our life before the Almighty God. it is His decision then whether we stay in heaven or go to hell for all of eternity. what are supposed to be ghosts, i believe come from satan.

It's not the ghosts in cemeteries, the Zombies you've gotta watch out for!

You are so right. Why indeed, would a spirit hang around a cemetery?

Because its hard to be logical with people who are superstious or spirtiual. Cemetaires also tend to have an erie fell about them which people think associate with the horifying/supernatural which instantly leads to ghosts..

I guess it's just the thought that dead decaying corpses are buried deep beneath them. Some people just belive in old folk legends.

I would be at the beach already, it's the same with tramps, why do they hang around bus stations and trains tations, when they could be down the beach.
