Knee Injury (Meniscus)?

Hi,

I had a torn meniscus in my knee since 2 months now. I am taking a course right now and it will end at the end of November. I need a partial meniscectomy but I can't right now because of my course. I was wondering, if I wait until November to get that surgery, what's the worst that can happen? Will I break my cartilage or something else?

It is not that painful and it is not always painful, that's why I don't mind to wait. My only concern is, can I get some complications if I don't get it right now?

Thanks

the meniscus is very important. it absorbs shock and lubricates the knee joint. there is no way yet to get a new meniscus or replace it, once its gone its gone and the long you wait the more that your knee will swell due to possible infections, your knee will feel stiff and more meniscus must be torn out. As your life continues the meniscus will likely tear again due to increased stress on the lower amount of surface area. Then eventually the whole thing will tear and it will be bone on bone rubbing so you will have arthritis. Thus, if you want to hold off Arthritis, get the surgery ASAP.
