How much does it cost in RMB (CNY) to get from Beijing to Lhasa through the Beijing-Tibet Highway (京藏)?

I want to know how much it costs to get from one end to another on the Beijing-Tibet Highway.

Update:

Highway, not Railway.

Update 2:

@Answer

There is such a service, it's called a highway and I'm asking the toll fee. You obvious know nothing about it, so don't act like you do.

I am a Beijinger, by the way, I just don't live there.

Update 3:

Gah, I want to know the toll fees.

Update 4:

William, if the toll fees are 1400 Yuan, it is way too outrageous, are you certain that it is 1400 Yuan or did you just make a calculation based on the fact that it is 0.4 Yuan per kilometer?

Update 5:

**** YOU ANDERSON COOPER (not the one from CNN), I don't give a ******* **** about this, and nor should you ******* care about my nationality, I just want to know how much it costs, I have guanxi, so even if I am a foreigner, I can still go. Now, go away.

Update 6:

I AM TALKING ABOUT THE ******* HIGHWAY, NOT THE RAILWAY WITH TRAINS. THE HIGHWAY WITH CARS! OH MY ******* GOD, YOU ARE ONE ILLITERATE PERSON.

first of all it'll be very expensive to drive from beijing to lhasa, prefer railway or by air

but i guess you like to feel the road by yourself.

for your reference, major highways in china charge 0.4 yuan per km, cross-city or secondary highways charge per highway, short ones start from 5 yuan, long ones 20 yuan

from beijing to lhasa is about 3500km, highway fees will be about 1400 yuan

you might pass about some 10 to 15 secondary highways which will be about 200 yuan or so

finally your fuel, going to lhasa you need a 4x4 with a minimum of 2500cc

you'll likely be looking at 13-14 litres/100km, you'll need at least 500 litres of fuel

which will end up to about 3200 yuan, apart from the above mentioned, there might be some mechanical repairs and so on, especially tyre punctures and repairs

so total you'll be looking into approx. 5000 yuan just for a one way trip from beijing to lhasa by car

    REPLY-

highway fees varies, the maximum of highway charge is 0.5 yuan per km, 1400 yuan is just an estimate based on 0.4 yuan per km so you have the idea.

i can give you one more example, driving from foshan (my home town) to shenzhen is about 195 km, i pay 65 yuan on highway toll fees, foshan to guangzhou 20 yuan, guangzhou to shenzhen 45 yuan

You just don't live there. You are a what? Well guessing I would say walk to the edge of town and look around. I have just seen some pictures of a awful mess of cars and trucks. They say it backs up almost to the Beijing city limits. It has been this way for a week and a half so you are late with the news. Sunday it was said the traffic moved 1 km. Now the government says it is trying to help get the trucks through because of all the food that is rotting in them. You need to read about all the price gouging going on out on that highway, no portable toilets. The cost to drive down that road and get through the trouble would be 0, you can not get through.

Source(s): TV, Internet, AP, UPI, Papers anything you look at has news on this traffic jam.

There is not such a service, for you to take a bus from Beijing to Lhasa. If you have to take bus, you will have to take multiple rides, section by section. And the expense depends on what kind of bus you will take, like big bus with AC and tiny mini-van charges differently. People rarely do that, as it does not save much, compared with the railway travel, and takes much longer.

Did mean the Beijing-Tibet railway? Do not joke me, the Highway is a road of very bad condition in some area.

The price of tolls is the least of your concerns with a "road trip" to Lhasa.

If you are foreign nationals, then everyone in your group must have a Tibet travel pass. Those passes may only be obtained with the help of a licensed Chinese travel agency and require proof of round-trip air or train tickets to your Tibet destination. Foreigners cannot drive into Tibet on their own.

Tibet is a developing region that is historically troubled, so it warrants special attention from the Beijing government. A militant separatist movement, led by an exiled Tibetan religious cult in neighboring India, poses an ongoing threat to Tibet. In 2008 there was a coordinated attack by these militants against the people of Tibet. The militant separatists murdered 18 civilians and 1 police officer.

In order to protect the lives of foreigners visiting Tibet, the Chinese government requires that their travel plans be organized through appropriate channels. Tibet is a vast, empty, rugged, and unforgiving place. Foreigners who venture outside of Lhasa's city limits can easily become lost and die. Enjoy your trip.

If youre "a Beijinger" why are you asking here?

"Guanxi"? isn't that a nice way of saying you have corrupt friends? And if you have so much "guanxi" why dont you use it to find the answer to your question?
