How bad is weed for you? Just wondering. 10pts!?

So I grew up really sheltered and have never smoked anything but I went to a concert the other day and could smell weed everywhere. It smelled really good. So I just wanted to know is it really bad for you? What if you have asthma? Thanks!

My whole family smokes weed my brothers and father. It makes you lazy and retarded. The first hit is the only good taste but don't get addicted too weed! Both of my brothers offered me weed but i declined it was till i was 18 i wanted to try it. I did it exactly for one month and never touched it since. It made me feel nervous and i felt like a completely different person. i hated it. If you are to try it try it but please don't get addicted over it and since your already on anti-depressants you'll look like a drugy and addict to self endorphins!

    i hope this helps

Not bad at all, it's safer than tobacco although it CAN cause lung problems (in the long run)

yeah, it does kill your brain cells BUT a lot of other things can do the same thing such as drinking, smoking, hitting your head hard, loud music (believe it or not).

And about the memory issue, yes, it screws up your SHORT TERM memory but only if you smoke it every single day all day for 5 years (yeah, i'm not kidding).

Also, it's not very addictive since it's 100% natural (some dealers and some people mix it up with cocaine or other drugs so be careful)

So, yeah, it's not very bad and not addictive since it's natural. Just be careful where you get it or who you get it from

I have asthma and I smoke weed every night. It is more of a remedy than narcotic. I wish people would stop categorizing it as a drug.. It's a smokable plant with delightful effects. I do not recommend drinking alcohol and smoking weed, I know lots of people who can do one or the other but never both at the same time. It's not bad for you, you can even ask your doctor, he/she will tell you a joint a day will not harm you. If your doctor is honest anyway.. My doctor says my asthma is fine and he does not tell me I shouldn't smoke weed. He told me to just remember my inhalers. The only thing he wants me to quit is smoking cigarettes.

I have never done it, but they say the first time you get high is the highest you will ever be. I will never do it, but as long as you don't allow your life to be consumed by it you'll be ok. Don't let it get in the way of your relationships, don't spend too much money, and don't get addicted.

Oh yeah, and don't get caught :) My sister has asthma and she smoked for like 4 or 5 years when she was a teen. She was just fine, just keep your inhaler handy.

It is not bad for you at all if you don't smoke it. In fact in California you can even have it prescribed for asthma. I know tons of people with asthma who toke up every day and do just fine, although smoking is obviously not going to be good for you. Marijuana is actually an expectorant which makes it good for your lungs. And it lowers your blood pressure even though it raises your heart rate. Also studies have shown that it does not cause lung cancer the way cigarettes do.

I work in a drug/alcohol rehab unit, and while weed is not known to have caused any deaths, it's certainly not good for you.

For the pot heads who have said it doesn't damage your brain have a look at this.

While it may not be as bad as alcohol or cigarettes, that doesn't make it good.

If you've never tried it, my advice is not to start, all smoke is bad for asthmatics no matter what some users have told you, common sense should tell you that, I'm also a retired medical rep.

EDIT: Natural? so is Deadly Nightshade!

look. im not gunna sit here and bullshit you. most of this is fact, not oppinion.

weed, is amazing. (ok, that one was oppinion.)

but it has been proven to fight cancer cells, prevent alzheimers, and help people deal with various ailments.(spelling?)

anywho, and to the ignorant ***** who say its terrible, do some research!!!! seriously. look up on google, "positive effects of smoking marijuana". i gaurentee ull find more good than bad. and if you have asthma, vaporize it!! it passes hot air through the herb, heating it just below the combustion point. this way it releases the thc, but dosent burn it! (a very good thing for those with respritory issues.)

but in all honesty, its not as bad as people want you to think. just because its a "drug" its gotta be "bad". no. meth, crack, heroin, that shits bad. weed? not so much.

want more reassurance? ever hear of someone overdosing on weed? NOPE! cant! the only way to kill a lab rat with weed is by dropping a 25 pound block of it on the rat from 20 feet.

    need more?

the only reason "weed kills braincells" is because people hold it in as long as they can, depriving their brains of oxygen. but the bottom line is, your a big kid now, and you can make your own decisions. if you wanna smoke some weed, by all means, go for it. but dont not do it because people say its "bad".

and that, kids, is why people SHOULD smoke weed if they want to.

    and **** all the haters.

    bitches.

Weed is a very very complicated drug, as a person whos had it now many many many times now for 1 year i know how it is, the effects of it is best described as you feeling like a 10 year old again, the feeling of getting mentally addicted is best described as all that's on your mind all day, all night is 'where is my joint/bong'? the feeling of being drunk and stoned at the same time is best described as crazy :). Your short term memory gets worse, sometimes when i talk to people they say to me 'you have asked me that 3 times the last few days'......your long term memory gets better.....:D

me = smoking bud 24/7, everyday drinker.

is it just me or do most of these arguments consist of very pro (weed is miraculous, it does you no harm) or very con (mental problems, addiction, gateway drug) people. i dont think its suited for everybody, and i dont think anyone can claim to have 100% knowledge of the plant and its effects. i've enjoyed being stoned but its not something i'd recommend for everyone, just look at some of your friends with alcohol for example, some just use it as a social lubricant while others spend far too much time being drunk and stupid. it depends on the person and their will power and mental strength. if they smoke weed and feel like they can handle doing it regularly, fairplay to em, just dont get caught and dont spill the bong. if they dont wanna try it, or dont enjoy it then thats cool too. everyones different

Well, Stan, the truth is marijuana probably isn't gonna make you kill people, and ...it most likely isn't gonna fund terrorism, but... Well son, pot makes yuu feel fine with being bored and... It's when you're bored that you should be learning some new skill or discovering some new science or... being creative. If you smoke pot you may grow up to find out that you aren't good at anything.

You seriously think it smells good? It kills your brains cells (brain cells cannot grow back), you get addicted to it and spend all your money on it, you usually become depressed, people start liking you less and it makes your breath smell bad and everyone can tell you do it. These are just some of the side effects, so don't do it and I'd imagine it would be worse to inhale it if you had asthma.
