How do I get the sales tag off these shoes?

I bought a pair of shoes in France and the sales person forgot to take to tag that beeps if someone tries to steal them off. I didn't notice until the next day and by that time we were already two hours away from the place I bought them. I know they have special things to get that kind of tag off ( the plastic beeping ones) is there anything I can do to get it off? Thanks!

Update:

I swear I paid for them, I really don't know why the alarm didn't go off.

Save your receipt and the next time you will be close to the store where you purchased the shoes, just go in and show them the receipt, they'll know by their inventory and sales that you paid for the shoes and something happened with the alarm system that it didn't respond to the security tag as it should have. They'll understand and remove the security tag for you. They should even give you something for causing your return to their store to fix this problem!

Yes, I read the article & got a chuckle out of the fact that this wasteful practice is just now coming into the public eye. I first noticed this when I had my first retail job in the 60's! It's been happening ever since I can remember. Especially at the beginning of each year, when the retailers often "pad" their losses for the previous year for a better tax write off & market manipulation. We used to make a trip to the county dump to gleen the excess food & clothing each January 1st-7 & we took out many truck loads of perfectly good stuff that we shared with our friends. These days, the dumps won't let you take anything that has already been dumped. They say they have the salvage rights to all that comes in & is unloaded onto their lot. You can sit outside & still make exchanges with some drivers! I like the fact that these stores aren't doing it themselves, but they seem to have no problems with hiring a small firm or individual as a subcontractor to dispose of their waste & unwanted items! We used to call it "quality control" & I guarantee all of you that this practice will not stop. It will just take on a new twist! Shredding will soon be making a LOT of people a hefty profit!

    Victoria Jhone - sod off!!

Applepie - clearcut case of theft. And you must have been experienced to know how to leave without setting the alarm off.
