Anyone know the name of an excellent short story I read in grad school?
About a boy who is misbehaving with his friends on a train (in NY subway I think) and accidentally slips between the cars and is killed. The final line was haunting, I can't remember it but it was something like, There had never been nor would there ever be another child like him. Can anyone tell me the name and author of this story?

I read this in high school too, and it drove me crazy when I saw this question because I couldn't remember it either. But I finally found the answer: Samuel, by Grace Paley.
