Anyone have experience with DPSD (delayed sleep phase disorder) in the military?

I've been in the Army for 13 years, my career is going well. I just found out I probably have clinical DPSD. Anyone else go through this or know someone who has?

Holy crap. After reading the description on Wikipedia. This was totally me growing up. And even now it bothers me from time to time. Sorry I am absolutely no help to you, but thank you for bringing this to my attention. Just curious, did the army diagnose this? And how?

Also, I've been using this program for the computer that automatically adjusts the color/brightness according to the time of day. So at night the monitor will have a reddish tint, similar to the sunset. And in the day it will be bluish/white. It helps me be less alert at night when I'm on the computer and easier get tired/sleepy. It's free too.

    Hi,

I have a friend who is also in the Army, currently serving in Afghanistan whom I believe he mentioned to me he thinks he possibly might have DPSD. After I spoke to a RN she suggested taking Melotonin if having trouble sleeping. Melatonin is a chemical produced by the brain to to regulate circadian rhythm (biological clock). I believe you can purchase it at any vitamin store or possibly online. Do some research on it =)

    Hope this helps!

My dad had a single episode of DPSD while a B-52 pilot during The Cuban Missile Crisis.
