So the first thing you have to do is find a common denominator, bottom number, for the two fractions. The easiest way to do this is to multiply each fraction by the bottom number of the other fraction. So lets look at your question...
9/10 - 5/6 so what we want to do is multiply 9/10 by 6/6 because 6 is the bottom number of the other fraction. so we get 54/60 now we multiply 5/6 by 10/10 because 10 is the bottom number of the other fraction. So we get 50/60. Now we take are new fractions 54/60 and 50/60 and subtract so we get 4/60 which can reduce to 1/15 by dividing the top and the bottom by 4.
I hope this helps.

9/10 - 5/6. First you have to find a common denominator, which is 30 (both 10 and 6 go into 30). Then you change the fractions to the denominator of 30 and get 27/30 - 25/30 = 2/30 = 1/15.

The lowest common denominator is 30. Therefore 9/10 = 27/30 and 5/6 = 25/30. By subtracting you get 2/30 which equals 1/15.
