If the price is about the same I think I'd choose the resort. On a cruise ship you spend most of the time at sea and have a limited time period for sightseeing at each port. I prefer to have more time to enjoy the sights and activities of a destination. I like to snorkel and scuba dive, relax on the beach, take photos of the local landmarks and wildlife, and enjoy the local restaurants. It's easier to do those things if you're staying at a resort.

We have done both.We went to the Grand Lido Braco resort in Jamaica. The best place on earth. The bar stays open until everyone has gone home no matter the time. You can fill out a breakfast form before you go to sleep(before 2am I think) and you will enjoy the meal of your choice in bed at the time requested. If it is late and you are hungry they have 24 room service.Tennis and golf lessons everyday.Nine holes on the property (42 acres) and a challenging par 72 across the road that they will take you to.Many hot tubs and pools with swim up bars.Five restaurants several more bars.Gym that overlooks the beach and ocean.Majority of the resort you will enjoy as much as any 5 star hotel. They also have a section for those that enjoy clothing optional for that all over tan.(Most resorts in the Caribbean offer this) That area is quite secluded. They post signs to let you know where their section begins.A day or two before the fun is over submit all your laundry for dry cleaning or washing. When you return home all you have to do is unpack. Google Superclubs Jamaica. for more information.Sandals is a good choice also.

A cruise is fine but if you drink or gamble you will have a nasty hang-over when you get the bill at the end. They automatically take away gratuities with every bar or food purchase. There is always a restaurant on board that you must pay extra for but there are enough restaurants that you will not get hungry.

All inclusive...you don't pay for anything...Cruise you pay for drinks

All inclusive...more romantic...time for each other...Cruise you are always with people

Shows planned itinerary.....especially at night.....Island music dancing under the stars

Beautiful beaches all the time.....on the water...take you seasick pills just in case.

Bigger room unless you are paying alot for a large room on a cruise.....

The only thing better about a cruise is that you have a chance to see a little bit of different islands

I would go for the all inclusive Sandals.....Check them all out and then pick your favorite island

Sandals all inclusive hotels are scattered all around the Caribbean.

Depends on the Sandals? A resort is a better bet than a cruise.

Cruise cons: Nausea from seasickness you didn't think you'd get and they said was unlikely cuz the cruise ship is so big. Norwalk virus going through the ship. Doctor's on cruise ships are often not allowed to practice medicine in the states or even anywhere on land...alcoholics, crooks, shysters...etc. No liability of doctor or medical staff if you get sick and they harm you trying to get you well again. You will most likely gain as much as a pound a day. Can't get away from ppl who latch onto you and are aboard with you.

Cruise pros: Beautiful view. Lots of ppl to have fun with. Lots of great food. Can go to many more places and see more things and then sleep while moving to the next port of call.

Resort cons: Stuck if it is not to your liking or someone latches onto you who is staying there too. Boring if you don't get away by yourselves a bit.

Resort pros: Can really settle in. Can really get to know something about where you are staying and meet ppl who even live there to improve your cultural skills and sensitivity.
