Body piercing hygiene for Prince Albert ring.?

Last year I got the prince albert piercing and was wondering about what hygiene steps I need to take with the ring. The reason I'm just now asking is because I kept upgrading (or stretching) until I got the size I wanted. Now I've had this ring for over six months and have noticed urine build-up on the captive bead part. I was wondering how often should I clean it? And is the build-up really unsanitary for my partner (i.e, could she get an infection of some kind)? Thanks.

Update:

Yeah, I think I'm just going to take it out and clean a few times a year, that's probably the most common sense answer.

And answer your question about the pain, I screamed like a little girl, lol. BUT I gotta tell ya, donating blood and or getting blood drawn has never seemed so mundane (pain wise).

I have a pa and take it out once a month to clean. If you take a bath or shower on a regular basis there is no real need to remove it. I went to a curved barbell so I could eaily remove by unthreading the ends.No tools required and they don't lose their shape over time. Not likely your girl will get an infection but after time the smell may become a problem. Good luck with it friend.
