Canadian Stamp on Canadian Passport?

I am a Canadian citizen, and upon returning to Canada from a vacation down south, the CBSA stamped my passport at the Quebec City Airport. There was no problem or anything, I declared everything I was supposed to declare, and they didn't ask me any questions or anything - I was just wondering why it was necessary to be stamped coming back to Canada... Any insight would be appreciated!

Sometimes they stamp on entry, sometimes they don't. They don't stamp as often as they used to, because they have other ways of recording the information.

After June 2009, Canadian immigration is stamping passports.

You have been stamped a entry date. it is not something to do with your declaration. They just have it recorded on your passport, the day you returned.
