I have a '09 Lexus IS 250 w/ all weather mats, which is one of the cars covered by the recall. I have looked, and looked, and re-looked - to the point of trying to look at the gas pedal while pushing down on it (i. e. driving), a separate problem, I know - and can't for the life of me figure out how the gas pedal could get stuck on the floor mat. The mat doesn't even come near the pedal, horizontally or vertically.
Of course, reading the article about the police officer and the crash - he had a "loaner" unfamilar Lexus ES 350 with floor mats that weren't made for that model.
OK, that I can understand. To recall 3 million cars though? Seems over the top.
My car also has the paddle shifters, would be very easy to downshift.
Needless to say, my floor mats are staying where they are.

I totally agree with you, it's stupidity, not an error of Toyota. My fiance is a Toyota tech, and they were told it's from people removing the floor mats to clean or whatever, and then not putting them back in the car properly, on the holding hooks that are provided. But yet, because some people have to be told how to do EVERY single thing, it makes Toyota look bad, and not just that person with no common sense. It even says in the pack when you buy the thicker rubber all season mats, to REMOVE the carpet mats, otherwise it's too thick. But no, people don't listen, and just do what they please, and then blame everyone but themselves.
Makes me angry!!!

i savour Toyota for doing that no be counted how minor as against Ford that could have denied a situation existed as they did with their automobiles that caught fireplace even whilst became off. That grow to be some years in the past. on the turn side particular there are assorted dumb drivers around. i've got lived in Dallas for the final 7 years yet as extensive because of the fact the highways are actually not an afternoon is going via the place distinctive accident do no longer take place. even if over the final week i grow to be in manhattan city for 6 days and as slender as those streets and highways such because of the fact the BQE and the Grand substantial constrained-get entry to highway are actually not one accident surpassed off. a number of those automobiles have been mere inches from one yet another. magnificent how in Dallas automobiles with a lot of room by some skill be waiting to fulfill. i'm no longer shocked a floor mat can instruct difficult. Oh people are additionally lower priced. maximum classic people might have spent the $10 greenbacks for yet another mat to stay away from the subject on an identical time as admiring the oftentimes happening and superiority of the motor and transmission. as against a Ford or GM. no longer suit happy people. submit to in ideas we are the people who sue McDonalds over warm espresso whilst it spills on an identical time as we are driving.
