The best way to get language immersion training?

Who do I contact at DLI to get immersion training in the country of the language I (used to) speak? Don't say it can't be done! Because #1 I did it years ago, #2 another soldier I know is going to do, it's just the local POC is on leave for two weeks and no ones else seems to know how to do it. Please let me know if you have any definite contacts who know how to make this happen.

Update:

MSJ, I think you could have said it better by saying: I don't know.

Update 2:

I went to Asia for immserion training when I was in SOF, many moons ago. My buddy is going to europe next month. Neither of us are currently billeted for our languages, nor are we FAO . . . Believe me folks and it can and has be done. Please keep answers to those who know how to do it.

Personally I don't answer unless I'm 90% sure I'm right.

if youre still in a billet that requires your language skills, have your command lay the pressure on your service's reps up there to get word. if youre in a course right now, you should know that not every class goes on immersion and odds are all the funds left for FY09 are long since allocated.

if neither of these apply to you then youre probably SOL. if its a country were not thrilled about, maybe you can use the language aspect to get your command to approve leave. but i doubt that.

and seriously, soliciting yahoo answers for contact info? come on.

I'm sure it can be done.

But I've never even met anybody who got to go an immersion trip. Unless you are an Arabic linguist and you count multiple extended tours in Iraq, of course! ;)

just because you did it years ago does NOT mean you can do it now. they won't just send you unless your next billet has a specific need for you to speak it.

if the POC is on leave then you wait until they are off leave.
