How long will Bettman last as Commish?

He has TOTALLY lost the respect of every player, coach, and fan in the world.

He has tanked the league for many years now.

He is against expansion and Canada.

He is TOTALLY blowing the Coyotes situation.

The only reason he still has a job is because of the owners.

I give him til the end of this season.

While Buttman is easier to hate than Eddie Haskell (and far more annoying) he is doing his job, making money for the creeps that own the teams. He's just a puppet (but I really wish someone would strap him to a tablesaw) so he's going to be around for a while. We managed to put up with Bush for 8 years (this will be a breeze).

He'll last as long as he keeps growing revenues and keeps building TV ratings. He's a douchebag, but he's really been beneficial for the league and for the fans. He's expanded the league more than any other commissioner of the past 40 years, and all the arguments about him being against Canada have turned out to be ******** upon closer inspections (not saying he's not anti-Canada, just that there's no real evidence to suggest that he is).

I give him another 10 years.

(Oh, and I'd love to know how he's blowing the Coyotes situation. He seems to be handling it as well as any of us could.)

    He isn't going anywhere.

The only way he leaves is to retire or the owners fire him. Guess what he makes them money so he wont be fired.

    1. Based on what? A few weird moves and a bad personality maybe but losing the respect of everybody is pretty extreme.

    2. Again based on what?

    3. No Canada expansion is common sense. Small cites with no corporate support = broke team looking to move in 5 years. If it wasn't for revenue sharing Canada would probably have 2 teams. Montreal and Toronto. The rest are small market and if there was something lower than that they most would be that.

    4. Their owner screwed that situation by filing bankruptcy and trying to rig a sale to a guy who every other owner doesn't trust based on his past attempts to buy the Pens and Preds.

You give him till the end of the season? LOL the man has been in charge since 1993. some people don't like him, like many dumb fans. but MANY people are happy for what he's done for the league. If it wasn't for Bettman, its likely the Flames, the Canucks, the Oilers, AND Ottawa would have either folded or moved. Ever hear of the Canadian Assistance plan? The US teams GAVE them money to stay in business. makeit7.com? could be ShouldBe2.com. Love him or hate him, he sure as hell dos'nt care what people think of him. Hes done ALOT more good than hes done bad. Just a few thoughts to ponder while you whine like a little child.

    A really long time.

But eventually have to let some of these southern teams give up the ghost.

Hockey is just not very popular in the southern half of the united states . And only the most huge cities can support a team there.

Man, I'm glad you don't hold any position of authority. You've got no idea how things work in the grown up world of big business.

Bettman has probably done more for the league in these times to help it than the two commissioners before him. He may not do what any of us like but that's no reason to boot him.

Economics don't like Canadian teams. Growth doesn't like Canadian teams. In fact, if it weren't for Bettman, there'd be less Canadian teams.

Read up on the facts before jumping to conclusions.

A long while. The Phoenix situation is a joke on all sides and not looking at expansion into Canada is wrong but he has made the owners & the players richer during his watch & that is always the bottom line.

  • He'll last as long as the Board of Governors like his job (and by every account they do).

Look at league revenues and US tv ratings since 2005...the BOG aren't getting rid of their golden boy (they're his bosses, and they love him).
