Wattage Ratings question?

Ive got 2 subwoofers rated at 600 watts RMS <EACH> for a total of 1200 watts RMS

If I buy an amp with ~2k RMS to power these, would that be a problem? or is there just something I have to set before powering up long term?

the gains, set them all most all the way down to start, remember it is not a volume control but to match the signal coming from the deck.

all so the crossover start at around 100hz. low pass but anywhere from 80 to 120 hz, just what sounds best to you.

It depends on the amp, something like sony and other low end amps over rate their amps so 2000 is a lot more than what it really puts out the higher end amps are pretty good about their numbers and they run cooler thus more eficient

make sure you set the gains properly and like the other guy said sony and other crappy brands fudge their numbers to make them sound better
