how to remove keyboard to get to the ram?

i try to contact emachine but there tech support knows ****, they could not even tell me the max memory my sys will run. so i came to the true smart people. i got an emachine lap top M 6805. I know i have 2 memory slots but according to the mamual just like their tech doing a 1/2 *** job. do not even why they call it a user manual. anyway, it only shows 1 memory slot in the back. it makes no ,mention of a 2 nd slot which i know it has to be cuz the system is running 512 and the one in the back is only 256 , so there has to be another 256 somewhere . i am thinking it could be under the keyboard thanks e machine people, they could not just mention where the hell it is so people do not have to guess. if its under the keyboard ? can someon maybe confimed .. how do i remove the keyboard to get to it? such a stupid design they could not just put the 2 slots in the back and make everyones life easy , no look ahead vision in something that the designer knows it will be upgradable.. thanks for all the help

Most laptops has only one slot for the RAM. You probably have a 256MB embedded in your system ( internal memory) plus the one 256 which is on the slot, that's why you have 512MB of RAM . Same here,

My Fujitsu has a 64MB embedded, so when I put in a 128MB module into the slot, it says I have 192MB of RAM.

I'm not 100% familiar with that model, but I think that if you look above and to the right of the keyboard you should see a little tiny slot in the fascia. If you stick a flat screwdriver in there you can leaver the fascia up (It's what the slot is designed for). Wedge your screwdriver under the fascia and GENTLY prise it loose movign from right to left. BE VERY CAREFUL as it can break easily.

Once the fascia is off you should see 2-3 small screws. Remove them and leaver the keyboard up. The RAM should be under there.

This is not something that you should do lightly. You can badly damage your laptop if you are not careful. A friend of min managed to rip the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard when they tried to change the RAM in a similar laptop, and it cost them about $100 to get it fixed.

If your laptop only has 512 RAM then it's probably cheaper to buy a new one than to upgrade the memory in your old one.

Most people never upgrade their laptops. A lot of laptops aren't really upgradeable at all. People just buy new ones. They are so cheap these days.

This computer has 2 slots but you should leave the slot under the keyboard alone. Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. So upgrade your memory from the slot on the bottom to play it safe.
